Del Din is a modern U.S. Army installation in Vicenza, Italy. The base was built to support the expanding needs of U.S. Army Africa and the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. As part of a broader effort, Del Din helps consolidate and modernize U.S. Army facilities in northern Italy, improving operational readiness for American forces in Europe.
Construction of Del Din began in the late 2000s, and the facility officially opened in 2013. This project marked a major expansion of the U.S. military presence in Vicenza, supplementing the nearby Caserma Ederle. Del Din was designed to house key units and provide state-of-the-art facilities for training, administration, and living.
Throughout its history, Del Din has played a pivotal role in supporting U.S. and NATO operations. The installation serves as a staging ground for rapid deployment forces, especially during crises in Africa and Eastern Europe. Its strategic location enables quick responses to emerging threats and reinforces the U.S. commitment to European security.
Today, Del Din remains a vital hub for U.S. Army operations in Europe. The base supports joint training, multinational exercises, and ongoing missions across the continent. Del Din also contributes to the local economy and strengthens U.S.-Italian military cooperation.
