Sigsbee Park Annex began during World War II as part of the U.S. Navy’s expansion in Key West, Florida. Its original mission was to support naval operations in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, offering housing and logistical support for personnel at Naval Air Station Key West.
Construction at Sigsbee Park started in the early 1940s, with rapid development to house military families and support staff. Over time, the annex expanded its facilities, adding schools, recreational areas, and modern housing to meet changing needs.
During the Cold War, Sigsbee Park Annex played a vital role in anti-submarine warfare and intelligence operations. The annex housed Navy families whose members served in surveillance and training missions, and it provided essential infrastructure during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a staging and support area.
Today, Sigsbee Park Annex remains an important part of Naval Air Station Key West. It offers housing, community services, and recreational amenities for military personnel and their families, supporting ongoing naval readiness and boosting the local economy.
Name Changes for Sigsbee Park Annex have not occurred since its establishment. The site is commonly called "Sigsbee Park" or "Sigsbee Annex," with no significant official name changes recorded.

PCS & Relocation Essentials
Because peak permanent change of station moving season is upon us, it is advisable if you already have your PCS orders to schedule you household packing and shipment with transportation and personal property, said Connie Silk, Army Community Service. Currently on Fort Campbell there could be a four- to six-week delay to get an appointment. (U.S. Army)
When you receive PCS orders to Sigsbee Park Annex, act fast. First, log in to the Defense Personal Property System (DPS) to start your move request. Contact the base Transportation Office to discuss your options: Household Goods (HHG) shipment or a Personally Procured Move (PPM/DITY). Each method has unique steps and paperwork, so ask questions early.
You may qualify for key entitlements. Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) helps cover hotel stays while house hunting or waiting for quarters. Dislocation Allowance (DLA) offsets relocation costs. Know your weight allowance and keep receipts for all expenses. Using DPS is required for tracking shipments, scheduling pickups, and resolving issues.
